Tosca 10.1 Patch 01 important information

Dear Community,

When installing the latest Patch for Tosca 10.1 (Patch 01) on some systems an error is encountered:

MDAC 2.7 Sp1 cannot be installed on this machine. MDAC 2.7 Sp1 requires any one of the following configurations:
Microsoft 98 with the Y2K Update 2 and Internet Explorer 4.01 SP2 or later
Microsoft Windows Millennium
Microsoft NT® 4SP5 (or greater) and IE 4.01 SP2 or later
Microsoft Windows 2000
Microsoft Windows XP

Setup will exit now. Please restart the Setup after instaling the necessary updates to this machine"

 

Our Engineering fixed this issue, and provided a new patch on 23/03/2017:

If you have already downloaded the previous version of the Patch (Date Modified 20/03/2017) you can circumevent this error by installing it via the "Run as Administrator" task.

Critical Bug found in Tosca 10.0

Dear Community,

we would like to inform you about a critical bug, which was found in Tosca 10.0.

Precondition:
You are working with Templates and Tables in Tosca 10.0


Description:
After instatiatiating or reinstantiating Template Instances, all TBox Teststeps containing Tables are failing with the following error: "Row <Row> was not found".

 

If you have not yet reinstantiated your Templates, which were created with a previous Tosca Version, we would recommend to work with old instances! Do not reinstantiate the Template if it is not needed!



Solution:
Currently there is no simple Solution for this issue. For a Workaround each affected Teststep has to be changed manually.



This issue has the highest priority for our engineering team. They are currently working on a solution, which will be provided as Patch 02 for Tosca Version 10.0 as soon as possible.
If you are having the this issue, please get in contact with your Tricentis Support team and we will inform you directly as soon as the needed patch is released.

Security Update Support Infrastructure - SSL 3.0 Protocol Support

Dear Tosca Community,

 

we want to inform you about an upcoming change in the Support environment infrastructure.
Due to security reasons we will not support SSL 3.0 protocol to access the Tricentis Support website any longer.

 

What's the impact for the Support Portal users?
Stopping SSL 3.0 protocol support effects following OS/Browser combinations:

 

  • OS WinXP in combination with IE 6
  • OS WinXP in combination with IE 8

 

These mentioned OS/Browser combinations will not be able to access/use the Support website after April 15th.

Categories reworked:
In order to enhance the usability of our knowledgebase, we removed all the technical categories and replaced them with more intuitive ones.
This new categories reflect what type of information you can expect from the articles, whether it’s a best practice or a FAQ.

Warning: Issue in the installation of 8.4. SP1 Patch 02

Dear Community,

due to a technical issue it is currently possible to install 8.4 SP1 Patch 02 directly on 8.4 without installing 8.4 SP1 first.
This process leads to missing components and to a not properly working installation of Tosca Testsuite.


If you are not sure, in which order you installed your Tosca version, you can find an easy way to check if your installation is affected or not. You can find the information about that in the following Knowledgebase article:

Extended Java Support for Tosca Version 8.3 SP1

Support Website - Incident View UPDATED

Dear Community,

 

the new Support Website design is now online for about two weeks.

We have received lots of feedback from our community users on the new design - thank you for all your input.
All the mentioned feedback has been screened, action items for further development have been created and the road map for further website development has been adapted accordingly.

 

And as of now, we can already present the first results related to this feedback.

Many community members stated that the incident view page is not capable of displaying longer incidents in a user friendly manner.


Internally we took a closer look at the incident view page it and discovered that this was absolutely true, for longer incidents it was hard to get a quick overview or check the incident status on first glance.
Further the community found filtering and toggle options missing.

 

So the responsible team started to rework the incident view page and came  up with nice additions to the mentioned incident view.


And as of today we have already been able to migrate the code onto the production systems.

 

Some new incident view features we especially like internally:

* TOGGLE INCIDENT HISTORY - Users can now toggle the sorting of the incident history according to their needs and preferences. Start with the latest or newest incident history node, just as you like.
* FILTER INCIDENT NODES - Users can now decide on which incident nodes are shown and which are not. Filter out administrative nodes (like incident status changes or administrative system nodes) and just focus on the relevant nodes.
* PREDEFINED FILTERS - We have added a selection of predefined filters for the users to chose from - of course you can create your own filter selection too if you prefer.
* SAVE YOUR OWN FILTER PREFERENCE - You even can save your own filter selection for later reuse.
* QUOTING ON INCIDENT NODES - Users can now give direct feedback on single incident nodes - want to hand over direct additions to the incident? It is easily possible now.

 

This have been my personal highlights, but there is more to discover. I'd like to invite you take a look at an incident on your own and share your opinion with us.

new Chrome extension version 0.0.0.6

Dear Community,

today our XBrowser extension for Chrome was updated to version 0.0.0.6 and is now available for all users of Tosca 8.3 SP1.
The new extension was uploaded in Chrome Store and your browser should update it flawlessly.
We don't expect any impact on your testing environment.

Q: What are the reasons for the update?
A: In order to apply changes for a future release of Tosca, some implementations needed to be done in the extension for Tosca 8.3 SP1. The main functionality of the extension is not affected.

Q: Do I have to update the extension myself?
A: No. This will be done automatically by Chrome.

Q: Are there any side effects on tests with Firefox or Internet Explorer?
A: No. All changes are implemented for the Chrome extension. Your multi browser tests will work as expected.

Q: One of my colleagues has the extension in version 0.0.0.5, but on my system 0.0.0.6 is already installed. Will that affect our tests?
A: No. You can run your Execution Lists on both systems the results won't be affected by the version of your extension.

Q: Our test system is not connected to the Internet and we're note able to update. Can we run our tests with version 0.0.0.5?
A: Yes for sure. Updating the extension is not mandatory.

Warning: Microsoft Update KB3025390 leads to Error in TBox

After installing Microsoft update KB3025390 an automation with TBox framework is no longer possible in IE11. XScan as well as the execution of a testcase are affected and lead to the following error:

"Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) Connection to application under test lost. Maybe the application has been closed or refreshed"

In this article you can find further information and a solution for the issue once the update is already installed.

Q: Does this affect other browsers as well?
A: No, as far as we know only IE11 is affected by this update.

Q: Is the automation with HTML-Engine still working?
A: Yes, this engine uses another interface for the automation and is not directly affected. However the update affects javascript in IE11, which might change the behaviour of your application and the automation as well.

Q: Is there a known Workaround?
A: Yes, please take a look at the given solutions in KB0011881.
