Please help me to know the diffrerence between Classic Module and XBrowser Module. Also let me know if I have missed any other module.

The Documentation is not clear to come to collate information about this and even google is not giving any result for this.

Hello Sheetal,

All kinds of Modules contain technical information that is used to steer controls. Test objects can be steered with the respective engines. In Tosca, you can use classic engines (e.g. Base Engine or HTML Engine) or XEngines (e.g. Database Engine 3.0 or DotNet Engine 3.0), which are steered via the Tosca TBox framework.

Overall, Tosca TBox is newer and offers more functionalities than the classic engines. Also, the Tosca TBox user concepts differ slightly from those of the classic engines. Some TBox advantages are the broader range of ActionModes, better table steering and technology-appropriate support while scanning applications using XScan.

Now, regarding the differences between classic Modules and XModules:

Tosca uses two kinds of Modules, depending on the engine that is used: classic Modules and XModules.

Modules which are used to steer test objects in classic engines are called classic Modules. You can create classic Modules by using the Tosca Wizard scan.

XModules are Modules which are used in TBox. They are generated by scanning applications with the Tosca XScan. Tosca XScan offers different methods to best suit the technology and it allows you to select parameters for the unambiguous identification of each control.

In contrast to classic Modules, it is possible to structure XModules. They can be given a tree-like structure and nested inside each other and they can also be used as classes and referenced in other Modules, which allows you to use XModules in different roles. Furthermore, an XModule can be defined as a generalization to be used in different specializations in a TestCase.

Please let me know if you have any further questions,

Best regards,

Hi Neha,

As per my knowledge, Classic and TBox engines are made up of different technologies hence they are different in performance and accessibility. Tbox is much faster than Classic engines. I assume all classic engines will be replaced by Tbox since they have lot of potential.
