All the columns and rows present in the table are copied in the same cell in Excel while using Buffe

Hi,

I have a functionality where I need to copy a table content from UI to Excel. When I try to scan the table and give the command as Buffer Inner text, TOSCA copies the entire content of the table and paste in a single cell (A1) in the excel sheet it creates. This is not in readable format neither I can do a compare with any other excel. Is there a way to copy the table content in Excel the same way with all the columns and rows and make it in a readable format.

Regards,

Ashwin

Hi Ashwin,

I would recommend using classic engine to steer the UI table (I assume HTML table). Here is the steps.

1. Steer the UI via classic engine.

HTML table:

Choose other while scanning

2. Save it to the Modules.

3. Buffer the HTML table and send it to a excel file using Stream.

Here you go!

Go throught the below documentations

https://support.tricentis.com/community/manuals_detail.do?lang=en&version=10.0.0&url=textstream_engine/textstream_modules.htm

Hope this helps you!

Thanks,

Pugal

My table in the application is something like this:

By looking at the image I assume you used classic HTML engine itself, but however I don't know whether you expanded checked all available attributes or not. For example

Can you expand every control and check still your table is not present?

Yes I have tried expanding all but none of it show related to the table.

But with Scan desktop I am able to see the table see the contents in the contents view. I wanted the same format in a excel sheet but when using Innertext and Buffer all the contens are copied in the same cell in excel.

Hi Ashwin,

Did you select UIA Engine while scanning with the classic wizard?

If so it may not show you the table. Scan without selecting the 'UIA Scan', you need to uncheck 'Use UIAEngine' from the menu option.

If the classic wizard is not able to find the technology try selecting html engine from the list of engines available to choose. You should be able to see the table now.

Classic Engine documentations are here.

Thanks Pugal after disabiling UIA engine I am able to see HTML table in UI Scan. But I dont see any test step with stream option in my Tosca commander. Is this something I need to import or available in standard module?

Meanwhile I did a wordaround script which scans the table and then send keys with CTRL A, CTRL C,creates excel file in the directory and send keys again to paste it.  This works as well. Is this appropriate solution?

As mentioned here: https://support.tricentis.com/community/manuals_detail.do?lang=en&version=10.2.0&url=textstream_engine/textstream_modules.htm

the modules can be downloaded within the Exchange Portal.

Thanks Max,

Ashwin - It depends on your need. As long the workaround is fulfilling your need you can go ahead with it.

Alternatively, you can also just use TBox Read/Create File module, the result is basically the same:
