LICENSE SERVER WITH HTTPS

HOW TO USE HTTPS WITH FLEXERA LICENSE SERVER:

ATTENTION: HTTPS WILL ONLY WORK IF YOU ARE USING WIN 8.1 / WIN SERVER 2012 R2 OR HIGHER.

This article describes how to set up an HTTPS connection between an on-premise License Server that is part of the Tosca Server installation and Tosca Commander.

For information on how to set up HTTPS for the new Tricentis License Server that is released independently of Tosca Commander/Tosca Server, see this Tricentis Knowledge Base article.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Export your SSL-Certificate from IIS-Manager ⇒ Server Certificates.
You can export your certificate to any folder. Tricentis recommends that you use the default License Server directory
    C:\Program Files (x86)\TRICENTIS\Tosca Server\LicenseServer

    Right-Click your SSL-Certificate

  2. Assign NameLocation, and a Password.
Your password must have at least 6 characters and must not begin with a special character.
    (Tricentis recommends using the License-Server-Path ⇒ Default location: "C:\Program Files (x86)\TRICENTIS\Tosca Server\LicenseServer")

Set a path for your Certificate-Export

  3. Specify a name for your PFX file.

  4. Convert your PFX file with Java-Keytool. Java-Keytool is installed by default with your license server in
    C:\Program Files (x86)\TRICENTIS\Tosca Server\LicenseServer\jre1.8.0_121\bin

  5. Open an Admin-Shell (Administrator: Command Prompt).
As shown in the screenshot below, you need to change the directory to your Java Runtime Environment:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\TRICENTIS\Tosca Server\LicenseServer\jre1.8.0_121\bin

    Admin-Shell

  6. After you reached the right start point, type the following string:

    keytool.exe -importkeystore -srckeystore "C:\Program Files (x86)\TRICENTIS\Tosca Server\LicenseServer\NameOfChoice.pfx" -srcstoretype pkcs12 -destkeystore "C:\Program Files (x86)\TRICENTIS\Tosca Server\LicenseServer\NameOfChoice.jks" -deststoretype JKS

Tricentis recommends saving the JKS file into the license server directory (see string above). You may have to adjust both file names.

  7. Confirm with Enter.

  8. Enter the password for the PFX file and set password for the keystore .jks file.

ATTENTION: THIS PASSWORD MUST BE THE SAME AS FOR THE CERTIFICATE!

You should now have a *.pfx and a *.jks in your license server folder.

  9. Open an Admin-Shell and go to C:\Program Files (x86)\TRICENTIS\ToscaServer\LicenseServer\License ServerDeployment\flexnetls-x64_windows-2017.08.0\server\

  10. Stop the license server via "flexnetls.bat -stop"

    "flexnetls.bat -stop"

  11. Open C:\Program Files (x86)\TRICENTIS\Tosca Server\LicenseServer\License Server Deployment\flexnetls-x64_windows-2017.08.0\server\ in your Explorer.

  12. Edit your flexnetls.settings. Change the Port to zero as shown in the screenshot below:

  13. Edit your local-configuration.yaml. Put the Value at https-in-enabled to "True":

    "local-configuration.yaml"

(Please note the Double-Backslashes for your Keystore-Path

  14. Update Flexera with another Admin-Shell: "flexnetls.bat -update":

  15. Restart Flexera with: "flexnetls.bat -start":

    "flexnetls.bat -start"

It may take some minutes to load, even after it has started successfully.

  16. Activate/connect your license.

If you are about to connect with your HTTPS-license-server, you have to use the same server name you entered into your certificate ("Issued To") as well as the port you chose during the setup (Default: 1443). If you are using https, then you must use the prefix https://... as shown in the screenshot below.
