Classic Engines deprecation announcement

With the availability of new Engines 3.0 and improved VisionAI capabilities, Tricentis will discontinue support for Classic Engines with the release of Tricentis Tosca 15.1.

Classic Engines will be deprecated as follows:

  • Tricentis Tosca 15.0 LTS (targeted for release in November 2021) will be the last version supporting Classic Engines. From this version on, you will not be able to scan with Tosca Wizard (Legacy Scan) anymore, but previous TestCases created with Classic Engines will still run.

  • Tricentis Tosca 15.1 STS (targeted for release in February 2022) completely removes Classic Engines from Tosca. This means you will not be able to run or create any tests with Classic Engines anymore.

What does this notice mean?

Tricentis will not offer support or further develop Classic Engines in the near future. This means you will not be able to run or create any tests with Classic Engines starting with Tricentis Tosca 15.1.

Why is Tricentis deprecating Classic Engines?

Tricentis has put a lot of effort into developing Engines 3.0. They already cover a broad range of technologies, and offer a much-improved experience, faster performance and additional capabilities compared to our Classic Engines.

What should I do with the tests I created with Classic Engines?

Tricentis recommends you create new TestCases with Engines 3.0 instead, in a timely manner. You can contact your Tricentis sales representative to explore additional migration options, where possible.

What happens if I try to run TestCases created with the Classic Engines after this feature deprecation?

Any TestCases created with Classic Engines will not run if you are using Tricentis Tosca 15.1 or higher. Furthermore, the Tosca Wizard will be removed from Tricentis Tosca 15.0 and subsequent releases.

Can I continue using the Classic Engines for now?

Yes, you can still run tests based on the Classic Engines with any release prior to Tricentis Tosca 15.1. To use the Tosca Wizard to scan with Classic Engines, you must use Tricentis Tosca 14.3 or earlier.

What should I do if I need more information?

Should you have any additional concerns, contact your Tricentis sales representative.
